Cookie policy
Who we are and what this policy covers
This cookie policy explains whether and how cookies and similar technologies are used on arcmedia.me, the website of Arc Media, a trading name of Selim Bah, operating as a sole trader. Arc Media builds growth systems for barbershops and grooming studios in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and in Austin, Texas, United States.
This policy covers the website only. It works together with our privacy policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally, and our terms of service. The short version is simple: this site sets no cookies of its own today. The sections below explain what that means, the one narrow exception, and what happens when you leave the site to book a call.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return to the site or move between its pages, your browser sends the cookie back, which lets the site recognize your device. Cookies can do useful work, such as keeping you signed in or remembering a language choice. They can also be used to track your browsing across many websites, which is why the law requires consent for some kinds of cookies.
When we say cookies in this policy, we also mean similar technologies that store or read information on your device. That includes local storage and session storage in your browser, and tracking pixels, which are tiny images embedded in a page that report back when they load. Everything in this policy applies to all of these technologies.
What this site actually does
arcmedia.me is a small, static informational website with four pages: the home page, the privacy policy, the terms of service, and this cookie policy. It has no contact form, no account system, no payment processing, and no chat widget.
The site itself sets no cookies at all. In particular:
- No analytics cookies. We do not currently run any analytics tool of any kind.
- No advertising or marketing cookies, and no tracking pixels.
- No preference cookies. Nothing on the site needs to remember settings between visits.
Because the site sets no cookies that require consent, there is no cookie banner. Showing one would mean asking you to consent to something that does not exist.
The one exception: security cookies set by our host
The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. In limited circumstances, Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies for security purposes, for example to tell real visitors apart from automated bots or to complete a security challenge during an attack on the network.
These cookies exist only so the site can be delivered safely. They are short lived, they are set only when the security situation calls for them, and they cannot be used to identify you personally or to build a picture of your browsing habits. Data protection rules in the UAE, the EU, and the UK do not require consent for strictly necessary cookies, which is why they can be set without a banner.
Cloudflare also processes technical request data, such as your IP address, browser type, and request logs, to deliver and protect the site. Our privacy policy explains that processing in more detail.
The four cookie categories
Cookies are usually grouped into four categories. Here is what each one does, how long each typically lasts, and whether this site uses it.
- Strictly necessary cookies make a site work and keep it secure, for example by supporting logins, shopping carts, or bot protection. They are usually session cookies or short lived. This is the only category present on this site, and only through Cloudflare in the limited security circumstances described above.
- Preference cookies remember choices such as language or region. They are often persistent so your choice survives between visits. Not used on this site.
- Analytics cookies count visitors and measure how people move through a site. They are often persistent so return visits can be recognized. Not used on this site.
- Marketing cookies track your browsing across websites to target advertising. They are usually persistent and long lasting. Not used on this site.
On persistence generally: a session cookie is deleted when you close your browser, while a persistent cookie stays on your device until it expires or you delete it. Any Cloudflare security cookies on this site are session cookies or short lived persistent cookies.
The WhatsApp booking chat and other third party pages
The "Book a call" buttons on this site open a WhatsApp chat with us, through a link to wa.me, a service operated by WhatsApp, an independent third party. WhatsApp is not part of arcmedia.me. When you use it, WhatsApp may set its own cookies and store its own data on your device under its own cookie and privacy policies, and the messages you send are handled under WhatsApp's terms as well as ours.
We do not control the cookies or storage WhatsApp uses. Please review WhatsApp's cookie and privacy policies. Our privacy policy explains what we do with booking messages once we receive them.
How to control and delete cookies
You can control cookies through your browser. Every major browser lets you:
- view the cookies stored on your device and delete some or all of them,
- block all cookies, or block only third party cookies,
- browse in a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when you close it.
Look for the privacy or cookies section in your browser's settings, and check each device and browser you use, since cookie controls apply per browser.
Because arcmedia.me sets no cookies, blocking or deleting cookies will not change how this site works for you. It can, however, occasionally interfere with a Cloudflare security challenge, and WhatsApp has its own requirements if you open the booking chat in a browser rather than in the app. If the chat does not open for you, you can reach us instead by email at hello@arcmedia.me or by phone at +971 52 281 9662.
If we ever add cookies
If we ever add analytics, advertising, preference, or any other nonessential cookies to this site, we will update this policy first so it accurately describes what the site does, and we will collect consent through a cookie banner or a similar mechanism wherever the law requires it. That includes the UAE Personal Data Protection Law and GDPR style rules that apply to visitors from the EU and the UK.
The date of the latest version appears on this page. Continuing to use the site does not count as consent to any future cookies. Where consent is required, we will ask for it separately and clearly before any such cookie is set.
